Some of you who have been coming here a while might have noted a certain commenter going by the name initials MEP. Well, MEP has his own poker blog now. Knowing MEP, I’m guessing some interesting things will get said over there so it’s worth checking out.
I also ran across this dude who is blogging on poker too. I point out his site mostly because he’s archived David Ross’ posts from 2+2.
I’ve gotta imagine that most folks know who David Ross is but just in case you don’t, he’s been posting a weekly summary of his play for the last 52 weeks (and counting). He’s a fellow techie who decided to see if he could make a living playing poker while he waited for consulting gigs or a full time job. This isn’t some guy logging in for a few hours a night but rather somebody who is putting in 6- 8 hours a day 5 – 7 days a week playing 3 or more tables at a time.
His posts are very honest both about his play and his personal life. What’s made the 52 week read most interesting is watching him develop as a player. Not that he was a slouch to begin with but as he posted hands he was playing and gave the details of sessions, more experienced players would give him tips and pointers on improving his play. You see his amazing winning streaks as well as the losing streaks that make him question whether or not he wants to keep doing this. Unless you’re a pro, and by pro I mean playing high stakes tables and winning week in and week out, there are nuggets of wisdom in his journey that might flatten out that learning curve a bit.
