My new thing when I see someone sit down at a $2/$4 or $3/$6 table with a huge buy-in (like $700+) and they start trying to push people around on pots is I get their attention and then I ask “Hey, are you that bad that you need to sit down with that much money at this limit or are you trying to impress us?”
I know the common wisdom is not to chase away fish but I think I’m creating a positive EV with this. It throws them off their game. They can turn a very predictable game into one of huge variance due to their aggressive playing and constant bluffing. Sure, you can make money off these guys but if you give me a choice between making an easy 3BB per hour or the possibility of making 10BB in one hour but I also might lose 10BB in that same hour, I’m going to pick the safe 3BB. Also, they tend to be hit-and-run types of players anyway so by the time you start adjusting to them and make them pay a few times they’re up and gone to another table.
