Ok, by my count we’ve got Vegas leading the way 23 to 10 over New Orleans. I did have to double-count the people who made non-commital responses (i.e. New Orleans is cool but I like Vegas too) but unless there’s a sudden surge of voting for NO, it looks like Vegas is the clear winner.
Joaquin suggested that some of y’all might want to post something on your blogs to point voters this direction in case other bloggers want to vote but don’t read this blog regularly (or at all). Those of you hoping for a NO comeback might want to consider that (Joaquin is pulling for NO so that may have been his motivation for this suggestion). Then again, you Vegas fans might want to do it to keep the NO people from hijacking the vote 🙂
Now the next question goes to time. Last year’s was in December. Chris said he hates that timing. CJ can’t do Nov. Being the slave to meetings that I am, I’m fairly familiar with the theory that the greater the number of people the less likely you are to find a time that works for everyone. So, what does work? I say we throw out some choices and do the voting thing again. Keep in mind though that we’re probably more likely to score some pros hanging out with us if a major event is in town. With that in mind, I’ll throw out dates for some upcoming tournaments*:
October 8 to 20, 2005 Fiesta al Lago IV Poker Tournament (Bellagio, Las Vegas)
October 23 to 27, 2005 Doyle Brunson’s North American Poker Championship – WPT Season 4 (Bellagio, Las Vegas)
December 13 to 17, 2005 Five-Diamond World Poker Classic II – WPT Season 4 (Bellagio, Las Vegas)
Nothing going on in Sept, Nov, or Jan. Nothing going on in NO.
