I went out in 88’th of 144. I never got anything going and missed several key flops which had me playing defense most of the tournament. On my final hand I got my money in with AKo against pocket tens and never improved.
I was also a little thrown off by some of the play at my table. Having played against the bloggers on many previous ocassions I thought I had the pace of the game pretty much pegged. I mean, a donkey move here or there but for the most part ok and good players. Not at my table though. Some real donkey action going on. The chip leader at our table called an all-in pre-flop raise with KTo for half his stack?!!? This is the before the first break. In another hand, a different donkey, calls my $200 bet into a $375 pot on the river with ace high (I had a straight A – 5). You don’t normally see that kind of play at a blogger tournament . . . but it wasn’t a blogger tournament. I later found out that Wil Wheaton invited people on Fark to come and play and I’m assuming that’s what introduced the huge varience players to the game.
I’m not blamming the Farkers for my results but was a bit of a shocker to see such poor play. You’re sitting there going “Is this a Party free roll?” I’m wondering if there had been any actual money in the prize pool if it would have changed the way people played but . . . it was certainly entertaining 🙂
