I haven’t figured out what the dealio is here but it appears that PokerHost.com has been taken over by the F.B.I. I’ve never played there before so I can’t vouch for them but Google cache and The Way Back Machine both indicate that PokerHost.com website has been around for awhile. Now when you go to the site you are greeted with a page that asks you for your personal information. When you click submit (with or without filling out the personal info), it tells you:
Thank You For Your Cooperation
Poker Host has been caught taking illegal wagers for United States citizens residing in jurisdictions with laws prohibiting such activities. As well as these suspicious gambling activities, other charges include tax evasion and racketeering. Your data, including phone number, address and IP location, has been sent to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to check if gambling is legal in your jurisdiction.
If you think you have been a victim of fraud or identity theft by PokerHost please contact your local chapter of the FBI.
It also appears to redirect you to the F.B.I website. I found this piece of code in their HTML that refreshes after 666 seconds (hmmmmmm . . . ).
<meta http-equiv=”refresh” content=”666;URL=http://www.fbi.gov/contact/fo/fo.htm”>
Silly silly silly.
