With Full Tilt Poker’s most recent software release comes what Full Tilt calls Multi-Entry Tournaments but what I like to call ZeeJustin Tournaments since they’ve essentially made multi-tabling MTT’s legal. I’ve got sort of mixed-emotions on this one. On one hand, there really is no harm IF there’s no chip dumping and you’re never seated at a table with another one of your entries. On the other hand, there is the obvious issue of when the number of tables gets to the point where you’re forced to be seated at a table at which another one of your entries is seated. Full Tilt says that they will “merge” the two entries.
What that means is that let’s say that you have three entries still in the tournament and there are three tables left. When one of the tables breaks they will merge your entry from that table into the entry of the table you are forced to join leaving just two entries and two tables. What happens to the chips during the merger? Full Tilt says that when they merge the two entries that the chip count will be merged as well.
So, going back to our three entry, three table example, my three entries have 50,000, 45,000, and 45,000. One of the tables breaks and they “merge” my two entries with 45,000 and now I’m sitting with 90,000 in chips.
I might have to play a few of these but that sounds a tad unfair to the other players. If the average chip stack is 50,000 and suddenly a guy at my table has nearly twice the average that is going to have a significant impact on the game.
In some ways it feels like highly regulated chip dumping. I’m not sure I see the major difference than if they had a rule in live tournaments that said that whenever you’re seated at a table with someone that you are family or friends with they can just decide to hand over to you all of their chips and take a piece of your resulting action. Obviously there are some logistical differences but isn’t the net impact of the other players at the table roughly the same?
I guess we’ll have to see if they become popular or not.
@Doug: Based on your response I can only imagine that you too are only 19?
Wow! What a jerk you are! Like you never made a mistake at 19. We should name this saying after you! RINI TEENY PEENY” Is that your face or did your neck throw up?” HAHAHA
