While waiting for my flight out of LAX, I cruised into one of the various sundry shops and there’s Daniel Negreanu’s pug staring at me. Yes, the LAX wall o’ magazines had Card Player Magazine (the Daniel “Player of the Year” edition). Even more telling, in regards to the popularity of the sport, hard-core financial publication Barron’s had a front page spread on online gaming.
Update: I just ran across this UK financial story which also ponders what kind of investment online poker sites make.
In non-poker related news: Since the NY portion of my trip was for pleasure and not being picked up by the company, I decided to see what kind of deal I could get from Priceline. Every other time I had tried them I could never get my price so when I landed a 4 star hotel in Manattan for $125 a night I was quite pleased. Priceline booked me for 2 nights at The Millenium Hilton which sits square in the financial district. It also faces directly at the spot where the World Trade Center used to be. In fact, my 29th floor view is of the place where two massive towers used to stand. Very sobering.
